    • Yes, Mark, you can assess your need of magnesium using a sniff test, as I described in a comment after this post. It’s vital, though, that the magnesium supplement you use for the test doesn’t have any flavouring and that it isn’t combined with any other supplement. If the smell is nasty, then your body is fully supplied with magnesium. If it smells like there’s nothing in the bottle, then you need more than you’re getting. If the smell is pleasant – your body needs a lot more, so step up your intake.
